WhatsApp Set to Introduce Sticker Reactions for Messages

WhatsApp is enhancing its messaging experience by introducing sticker reactions, a feature currently in development. This addition aims to provide users with a more expressive way to interact within chats, moving beyond the traditional emoji reactions.

What Are Sticker Reactions?

Sticker reactions will allow users to respond to messages using stickers instead of just emojis. This feature is designed to offer a more personalized and dynamic form of expression, catering to the diverse ways users communicate.

How Will It Work?

Once implemented, users can long-press a message to bring up the reaction menu, which will include an option to select stickers.

  • Stickers from WhatsApp’s official Sticker Store
  • Third-party stickers imported through external apps
  • Previously saved stickers

This functionality is currently being tested in the Android beta version 2.25.13.23 and is expected to roll out to iOS users in the future.

Enhanced User Experience

The introduction of sticker reactions is anticipated to enrich user interactions by:

  • Providing a broader range of expressive tools
  • Allowing for more personalized responses
  • Encouraging the use of creative and animated stickersThe Indian Express

This feature aligns with WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to make conversations more engaging and reflective of users’ personalities.

Availability

As of now, sticker reactions are in the development phase and not yet available to all users. WhatsApp plans to release this feature to beta testers first, followed by a wider rollout. Users interested in trying out new features early can join the WhatsApp beta program via the Google Play Store.
