Cybersecurity Measures Heating up As Six New CERTs launched

Pakistan is ramping up its cybersecurity defenses with a significant new proposal: the establishment of six provincial-level Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs). The move aims to bolster the nation’s digital resilience and ensure faster response to cyber threats at regional levels.

The CERT Council has finalized a proposal to set up one CERT in each of the following regions: Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). A formal summary has been submitted to the federal cabinet for approval. Once approved, the federal government will issue an official notification to operationalize these provincial CERTs.
